About Me

Covey Cowan: After owning and operating a high-end home construction company for 20 years, Covey Cowan established San Carlos, California-based Seneca Builders, Inc. in 1995. As owner and general contractor for Seneca Builders, he supervised remodel, addition, and ground-up building projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. He and his team of 40 staff members worked in collaboration with clients, engineers, and architects to plan and build high-end properties across a comprehensive range of styles, from modern forms to classic Mediterranean designs. Among his projects with Seneca, Covey Cowan directed the not-for-profit construction of a large sustainably designed, rammed earth youth hostel for the residential education organization Hidden Villa Foundation. Homes built by Seneca Builders have been featured in over a dozen design magazines.

Since 2006, Mr. Cowan has served as a supervisor and project manager for Van Acker Construction Associates in Mill Valley, California. There, he runs contruction projects for high-end homes and estates, overseeing on-site construction operations, project budgeting, and client relations.

Covey currently resides in Marin county with his wife and young son. When he is not leading construction projects, He enjoys hiking, biking, playing sports with his son, and making art. He has practiced meditation daily for 45 years using techniques he has learned from various cross cultural traditions. He has coached youth soccer, basketball, and baseball. Additionally, Mr. Cowan has facilitated support groups for the community mental health organization the Center for Attitudinal Healing; and helped raise funds to build a school library for a Huichol Village in central Mexico.
